Calendar and no practice days
Keep an eye on the calendar and the list on the right of the screen that lets you know when there is no practice on regular nights.
Thanks to the mild winter and excess of snowdays left, there have been more days added to the calendar that the pool is unavailable to us.
Consider this your ‘heads up’ that they have been added to the calendar.
Team Sign ups
Ok, so there has been a fair amount of confusion on filling out papers for ‘signing up’ for the Thrashers. I agree, a not so clean process for sure.
There are a lot of you that filled out their insurance forms in the fall and are returning for the spring, this is great. Then there are new faces, also great. In the past using these forms to keep track of the info was fine, but with growing numbers comes growing headaches and challenges.
I created a super simple form on the registration page that we’d like you to fill out for each of your children. This will help us compile a list of names and emergency contact info that is as current as possible and perhaps a little easier to access for us.
This info will NOT be visible to anyone but US ,the coaches, as it will not be posted.
The link is on the left of the page under useful links–> TEAM REGISTRATION (or you can click on this link)
Please take a moment and fill out the form for each of your children it shouldn’t take too long.
Thanks
Coach Andrus
No practice
No practice on Wednesday 05/09/12
No practice tonight Thursday May 3rd
I trust everyone has figured out no practice this evening. Thursday May 3rd!
Team Suits
The Team Lockerroom @ TheDeepEndOnline website is now open for ordering team suits. The cut off for the free shipping is May 15th which is a Tuesday. All suits ordered by this time will be sent to Coach Miles and he will distribute them at practice.
IF for some crazy reason you don’t make that cut off, you will be responsible for the shipping and there is no guarantee you will receive your suit before out first meet.
Go to the Swim Suit Orders page for all the ordering information. If you have any questions about the ordering process refer to that page first as it’s fairly thorough in the explanation. Though there have been some site updates so some of the wording might not be perfect at the moment
As we mentioned at the team meeting that I’m sure all of you attended, These suits are not ‘mandatory’, BUT, a Royal/Navy Blue suit IS. You wouldn’t try and show up to a baseball game with a different uniform on, it’s the same for swimming. We are a TEAM, lets try and remember to look the part.
Team Swim caps are available at practice.
Got a little house keeping done.
Each meet now has a dedicated page for that meet.
On that page there is (or will be) the following:
- Location
- Date
- Directions
- Interactive Google Map
- Time info
- Events (as soon as I have the info)
- Signups for THAT meet
- Registration list for THAT meet
This should allow timely and accurate signing up for meets since you won’t have to wait for me to put the signups form on the website and the registration list will remain there until likely past the end of the season when I get around to taking them down. This will eliminate any question/arguments between parents and coaches on the pool deck as to whether you did or did not sign up. All you need to do is put your childs name in the fields and fill in the ‘captcha’ code (not case sensitive) and hit submit. Your childs name should appear at the top of the list that is on the bottom of that page. If it didn’t show up,try again,or look a couple names down in the event multiple people are signing up at the same time. The signups are there now, but please don’t signup this far in advance! I will put the dates the sign ups are done on each page when I verify with Coach Miles shortly. (two nights before each meet I think)
Also there shouldn’t be any need for scrambling for directions or any other info.
If anything changes I will update the pages as needed.
Thanks
Coach Andrus
Ft Lauderdale Information
Here is the info for the Swim Ft. Lauderdale International Classic that is coming up in June. There is a list of kids who are eligible and in what events (Not on the list but eligible:Patrick Leslie is eligible in the 100 Free and 200 IM, Amanda Carbaugh is eligible in the 100 Fly and 200 IM). The meet program has most of the information. I will be finding out about hotel rooms. We would be flying out of Elmira most likely on the 20th and probably coming back on the 25th. I know this is short notice, but its where the meet fell in our calendar. If you can go it will be a great experience to see a lot of fast swimmers gathered in one spot. Understand that we aren’t guaranteed to get into the meet, it is the first 900 PAID swimmers that get to go. I would like to send our entries in early next week to see if we are in, then work on travel plans. If you are interested in going, let’s meet Friday night after practice in the pool and start figuring things out.
